Demolition Services in Oneida County & Central New York

Tear It Down Clean. Haul It Out.Prep the Site for What Comes Next.

When a structure needs to come down, you need a contractor who handles the full job: permitting, demolition, debris removal, and site restoration. We demolish houses, garages, barns, sheds, and commercial buildings. We remove concrete, asphalt, driveways, foundations, and swimming pools. Everything is hauled off-site and disposed of properly, and the site is graded and ready for whatever comes next.

Our Demolition Services

We handle demolition at every scale, from a single concrete pad to a full commercial building takedown. Each service below covers a different type of demolition work.

Complete demolition of houses, garages, barns, sheds, mobile homes, and commercial structures. We take the building down safely, sort salvageable material where applicable, load debris, haul it to licensed disposal facilities, and leave the site clean. For partial demolition or selective interior work, we remove only what needs to go while protecting the structure that remains.

Driveways, sidewalks, patios, slabs, foundations, parking lots, curbing, and retaining walls. We break up and remove concrete and asphalt surfaces, load the material for disposal or recycling, and grade the exposed subgrade for new construction or restoration. Driveway tear-outs and foundation removal are included in this scope.

Inground pools that are no longer wanted, no longer functional, or blocking new construction can be removed or filled in. We offer both partial removal (punch holes in the bottom, collapse walls, backfill with clean material) and full removal (excavate the entire shell, haul it off, backfill and compact). Pool removal is common before home sales, new construction, or property redevelopment.

Debris Haul-Off & Disposal

Demolition generates a significant volume of material: wood, concrete, metal, roofing, drywall, and soil. We load all debris on-site, transport it to licensed disposal or recycling facilities, and provide documentation when required. We sort materials where possible to reduce disposal costs and keep recyclable material out of the landfill.

Post-Demolition Site Clearing & Grading

After demolition and debris removal, the site still needs work. We backfill any excavated areas, compact the fill, grade the surface for proper drainage, and leave the lot ready for new construction, landscaping, or sale. A demolished site that is not properly graded becomes a drainage problem and a liability. We finish the job.

Demolition Services for Central New York Properties

Demolition is more than swinging a bucket. It requires planning, permitting, safety protocols, and proper disposal. Older structures in Central New York often contain materials that require evaluation before work begins. The EPA requires a thorough asbestos inspection before demolition of commercial, industrial, and multi-unit residential buildings under the NESHAP regulation. New York State extends this requirement to any pre-1980 structure scheduled for demolition, regardless of building size. We coordinate these evaluations so the project stays compliant from day one.

Hale Excavation is a veteran-owned, licensed, and insured demolition contractor with over 35 years of construction experience. We handle residential and commercial demolition projects throughout Oneida County, Herkimer County, Madison County, and surrounding communities. Our crews manage the entire scope: pre-demolition preparation, structural takedown, material sorting, debris loading, haul-off, and final site grading.

Free estimates, free second opinions, and free consultations on every demolition project. We walk the site with you, identify the scope of work, and provide a clear, written estimate before any work begins.

Why Professional Demolition Matters

It Keeps the Site and the Neighbors Safe

Demolition involves heavy equipment, falling material, dust, and potential hazards like asbestos, lead paint, and underground utilities. Our crews follow OSHA safety protocols, use proper equipment for each structure type, and manage dust and debris to protect adjacent properties and the surrounding area.

It Meets Permit and Disposal Requirements

Most municipalities in Oneida County require a demolition permit before any structure is taken down. Some projects also require utility disconnections, asbestos clearance, and notification to local authorities. We handle the permit process and ensure all material is disposed of at licensed facilities with proper documentation.

It Leaves the Site Ready for the Next Phase

A demolition job is not done when the building is down. The site needs to be cleared of debris, backfilled where necessary, and graded for drainage. We treat demolition as the first step of whatever comes next, whether that is new construction, a clean lot for sale, or restored open space.

It Avoids Hidden Costs and Surprises

A contractor who quotes low and then charges extra for haul-off, disposal fees, site grading, or permit coordination will cost you more in the end. We provide a clear, written estimate that covers the full scope: demolition, debris removal, disposal, and site restoration. No hidden fees.

Serving Central New York and the Mohawk Valley

From Utica and Rome through the Mohawk Valley, north into Lewis County, west across Onondaga, south into Chenango and Cortland — we work the full Central New York region. Our home base is Sauquoit, and our standard service radius is one to two hours from Utica. For the right project, we travel further.

Do I need a permit for demolition?

In most cases, yes. Oneida County municipalities typically require a demolition permit for any structure removal. Some projects also require utility disconnection permits and environmental clearances. We help identify what is needed and handle the permit coordination.

New York State requires an asbestos survey for any building constructed before 1980 that is scheduled for demolition. If asbestos-containing materials are found, they must be professionally removed before demolition begins. We coordinate asbestos evaluations and abatement scheduling so your project stays on track and in compliance.

A residential garage or shed demolition typically takes one day. A full house demolition with haul-off and site grading usually runs 3 to 5 days. Commercial projects vary based on structure size and complexity. We include a timeline estimate with every quote.

We handle all debris removal. Loading, hauling, and disposal are included in our scope of work. We transport material to licensed disposal facilities and provide documentation when required for permit closeout.

Call us at (315) 982-3673 or contact us online. We walk the site with you, evaluate the structure, identify any pre-demolition requirements, and provide a written estimate covering the full scope of work.
