Excavation Services in Herkimer, Herkimer County

Herkimer sits along the Mohawk River at the eastern edge of our core service area, where Oneida County meets Herkimer County. The village has a historic Main Street, established residential neighborhoods, institutional properties including the Herkimer County Courthouse and SUNY Herkimer County Community College, and surrounding rural land that stretches into the Mohawk Valley.

Hale Excavation is a veteran-owned, licensed, and insured contractor with over 35 years of construction experience. Herkimer County has significantly less excavation competition than Oneida County, which means property owners in Herkimer often struggle to find a responsive, qualified contractor for drainage work, septic systems, and site preparation. We fill that gap with the same level of service we provide closer to our base.

The Mohawk River valley running through Herkimer creates specific excavation challenges: high water tables in low-lying areas, flood-prone properties near the river corridor, and older infrastructure built decades before modern drainage standards. We understand these conditions and build systems that account for them. Free estimates, free second opinions, and free consultations.

Why Herkimer Properties Need Experienced Excavation

Mohawk River Valley Creates Drainage Challenges

Properties in the lower elevations of Herkimer, near the Mohawk River and West Canada Creek, face high water tables, seasonal flooding, and poor drainage. French drains, regrading, and catch basins manage water on these properties. Properties that have experienced flood events may also need site restoration and drainage improvements.

Limited Local Excavation Competition

Many homes in the Village of Whitesboro were built in the mid-1900s with infrastructure that is now 50 to 80 years old. Galvanized water lines, clay sewer pipes, and original drainage systems deteriorate over time. When they fail, excavation is the only way to access and replace them.

Aging Infrastructure in the Village

Many homes and commercial properties in the Village of Herkimer were built in the early to mid-1900s. Water lines, sewer laterals, and drainage systems from that era are reaching the end of their service life. Excavation is the only way to replace them.

Institutional and Municipal Properties

The Herkimer County Courthouse, SUNY Herkimer County Community College, and municipal facilities generate ongoing demand for utility work, stormwater management, site preparation, and infrastructure maintenance. We serve institutional and municipal clients with the coordination and documentation these projects require.
