Excavation Services in Rome, Oneida County

Rome sits at the western edge of Oneida County with a mix of established residential neighborhoods, a growing commercial and technology corridor, and surrounding rural and suburban areas. The former Griffiss Air Force Base, now the Griffiss Business and Technology Park, has driven commercial redevelopment that continues to drive demand for excavation, site work, utility installation, and stormwater management.

Hale Excavation is a veteran-owned, licensed, and insured contractor with over 35 years of construction experience. Rome’s military heritage, as reflected at Griffiss, aligns with our veteran-owned identity, and we are proud to serve the Rome community. We handle excavation at every scale in the Rome market: residential drainage fixes, septic systems for properties outside the sewer district, utility connections for new construction, demolition of aging structures, and 24-hour emergency response.

Rome’s housing stock includes historic homes near Fort Stanwix and downtown, mid-century neighborhoods throughout the city, and newer development on the outer edges. Each area has different excavation needs, and we bring the experience to handle them all. The Erie Canal Village area and surrounding corridors reflect Rome’s deep history, while the Griffiss Business and Technology Park represents its future. Both require site work, and we serve both. We also work with builders, developers, and contractors on commercial projects throughout the city and surrounding towns.

Why Rome Properties Need Experienced Excavation

Griffiss Business Park Drives Commercial Site Work Demand

The Griffiss Business and Technology Park is one of the largest commercial redevelopment areas in Central New York. Ongoing construction, facility expansion, and infrastructure upgrades at Griffiss create demand for site preparation, utility installation, stormwater management, and demolition. We serve contractors and developers working on Griffiss-area projects.

Older Residential Neighborhoods with Aging Infrastructure

Rome’s established neighborhoods near downtown, along Black River Boulevard, and in the East Rome area have homes built from the early 1900s through the 1960s. Aging water lines, deteriorating sewer laterals, and inadequate drainage systems are common. These properties need excavation contractors experienced with older infrastructure.

Rural and Suburban Properties on Private Septic

Many homes on Rome’s outer edges, along Floyd and Lee corridors, and in the surrounding towns sit outside the municipal sewer district and rely on private septic systems. Septic installation, repair, and leach field replacement are among the most common services we provide to Rome-area homeowners.

Municipal and Institutional Maintenance

The City of Rome, the Rome City School District, and institutional property owners maintain facilities, infrastructure, and grounds that require ongoing excavation support. We provide utility work, drainage maintenance, snow removal, and site maintenance for municipal and institutional clients in the Rome area.

Rome Areas We Serve

Historic downtown, Fort Stanwix National Monument, and the surrounding residential and commercial core. Utility replacement, drainage improvements, demolition, and commercial site work.

The former Air Force base redeveloped into a commercial, industrial, and technology hub. Site preparation, utility installation, stormwater management, and infrastructure support for ongoing development.

Established residential areas with mid-century homes. Foundation drainage, yard drainage, sewer line replacement, and septic work for properties at the edge of the sewer district.

Rural and suburban properties on the outskirts of Rome, extending toward Floyd, Lee, and Westmoreland. Septic systems, driveway and private road construction, land clearing, pond excavation, and new construction site preparation. These areas have larger lots, heavier tree cover, and more properties relying on private wells and septic systems.
